The building
The transfer of important building of the "Making Water" located in Montevideo and 32 Avenue is another sign of the seriousness of the task that takes place in the new home of the Museum entidad.La located in Montevideo esq Av . 32 was built in 1952 to purify water from the James River. When the plant was built Punta Lara is, that it had failed to start, was out of service, becoming a host plant and water distribution to the surrounding neighborhoods. (The legal steps of his transfer to the Museum are in the HISTORY of this web site).
has two floors with approx. 1,500 m2 covered. The ground floor is currently occupied by the water tanks and pumps for distribution, office, storeroom, and clothing. The top, which was laboratory of the plant, is being restored to house the museum. Has lift, terrace and ample space occupied by the water treatment ponds. In front of the property rises the tower with a tank capacity of 500 mts3. Has a height of 27 meters and a diameter of 9 meters and two floors. All built in colonial style with perimeter eave roof tiles, windows with projecting columns that give a special charm.
Due to the tasks which it was intended, the construction is extremely strong, if we add its location, its capacity and potential, where recovery efforts are completed will have been rescued for the heritage of the city a new and valuable building. With the lure of starting a museum than a city with so much history was in need, that it was even required by the several visits that come to know.
